Reminder: Build session at 5:30 p.m. on Mar 2 in 2011 Coover. I'll have kits for the people who have requested them. I'll try to remember to bring the solder this time.

I'll be brinigng a speaker kit, if you would like to see all the parts that are involved and some of the construction.

If you are ready for your next project, stop by to sign up.

I didn't make much progress on getting more knowledge to the web site thise week, but I'll keep poking away it. I did add a list of "auxiliary" items that can be used with projects. There are few of each of these items in the Club storeroom (which is an old workbench in my basement). Let me know if you would like any of these items.

Looking ahead to the meeting on Mar 9: In addition to the usual project building, I'm planning to have demos of three related audio items. The first demo will be of two different mid-size sub-woofers. The second is a 60-W sub-woofer amplifier. The third is a 100-W power supply for the amp. (Obviously, the amp needs the power supply and the power supply is not real useful without the amp, but I want to handle them separately to make the building a bit less intense and to spread the cost out a bit.) The demos will be of prototypes and not finished projects. But if all goes well, the projects kits for these three things should be ready go after spring break. Watch for more info regarding the demos before the Mar 9 meeting.

The Audio and Arduino Clubs are back for the spring semester.

Meetings will be at the same time as last semester: Mondays at 5:30 pm. The first meeting will be on Feb 2 in 3043 Coover Hall.

We will try a somewhat different format of the club this semester by providing much more project time. The first two meetings will be in the "classroom" (3043 Coover). The remaining seven or eight meetings of the semester will be in the lab (2011 Coover), with emphasis on building projects.

We will use a pick-and-choose approach to projects. There will be a menu of projects available. If you decide to do a particular project, you can sign up to receive it at the next meeting (or for any future meeting). Then you work on the project at your convenience — during a meeting or later on your own time.

For most projects, you can pay for the kits either when you request them or when you receive them. (For the more expensive speaker projects, you will need pay at least half of the cost upfront, before the parts are ordered.)

You can do projects in any order and you can mix and match between Audio and Arduino projects.

See the list of projects on the projects page. Some are immediately available, and some are being finalized.

If you are interested and want to hear more, come to the first informational meeting on Feb 2. If you have questions but can't make it to the meeting, contact G. Tuttle.
